What you agree to when you use Songlinks, and what we promise in return.

Who we are

Songlinks is run by Kane Technology Group, LLC (“we”). By using the site, its API or an account, you agree to these terms. If you use Songlinks for a company, you agree to them for that company. Our privacy notice says what we collect and how long we keep it.

What Songlinks is, and is not

• Songlinks looks up songwriters’ names in public music rights-registration data and groups the registrations that appear to belong to the same person. The grouping is made by a statistical model. It can be wrong, and no person checks each answer.
• The data is a snapshot of a particular date and is not refreshed on a schedule. A registration may have changed since.
• Songlinks is information, not advice. It is not legal, financial, rights or royalty advice, and it is not an official record of who owns or wrote anything. Check any registration with the organisation that holds it before you act on what Songlinks shows.
• Songlinks never changes a registration. What you record on Songlinks stays a record of what you said; it does not correct anything at a society, an administrator or anyone else.
• It is in beta and free. Features may change, and some may stop.

Using the site and the API

You may use Songlinks for your own work or your company’s, including looking up writers you do not represent. You may not:

• copy the site or the API in bulk, or use them to build a competing database or service;
• get around a limit, block or sign-in we put in place, or use automated means to send more requests than a person or a reasonable integration would;
• interfere with the service, probe it for weaknesses, or access an account or team that is not yours;
• use Songlinks to harass anyone, or for anything unlawful;
• present an answer from Songlinks as verified, official, or as coming from a registration body.

We may limit, slow or block any use that puts the service or other people at risk, without notice.

Accounts and teams

• You sign in with Google. Keep your Google account secure: what is done under your account is your responsibility.
• A team’s owners and admins decide who is in it. When you invite someone, you are choosing to share the team’s writers, statements and reviews with them.
• Save and record only what you are entitled to: writers you represent or work with, and statements you believe are true. We do not check them.
• What you save and record is yours. You let us store and process it to run Songlinks for you, as the privacy notice describes. You can download all of it, and delete your account, at any time from your account page.
• We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where we can, we will tell you first.

Catalog reviews

If we prepare a review of your catalog, it is for your team and the people who work with you on that catalog. It is based on public registration data as of the date it states, and it is a starting point: check each registration, and your own agreements, before you change anything. We do not promise that following it will recover any particular amount.

Other services

Signing in uses Google, and the site uses Google Analytics; Google’s own terms and policies apply to those. Links to other sites, including CWR Check, are there for convenience; we are not responsible for them.

No warranty, and limits on our liability

Songlinks is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promise that it is accurate, complete, uninterrupted or free of errors, and we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for royalties, income or opportunities lost because of something Songlinks showed or did not show. Where the law does not allow these limits, they apply as far as it does.

Changes

We may change these terms. When we do, we will update this page and the date at the top; if you have an account and the change matters, we will also say so on the site. Using Songlinks after a change means you accept the new terms.
