# Songlinks > Songlinks finds the songwriter behind a name in music-rights registration data. One writer is often registered many times: under different spellings, under several IPI name numbers, or with no number at all. Songlinks groups those registrations into one person, shows the evidence, and keeps apart the ones it is not sure of. Songlinks is in beta and is run by Kane Technology Group, LLC. Its groupings are machine output. A grouping is not checked by a person unless the page says so, and it is not for rights or royalty decisions. ## What it answers - Which registrations belong to this songwriter? Search by name, or by IPI name number. - Which works are registered to them? Every work under the joined registrations is listed. - Are two writers with the same name the same person? Same-name writers stay apart unless their registrations show they are one person. It does not look up recordings by ISRC, releases by barcode or works by ISWC. It starts from a person. ## How to link to an answer - A person: `https://songlinks.io/person/{Songlinks person ID}`. Example: https://songlinks.io/person/SLP-Z3T8-G114-P (Mick Jagger: three registrations under three spellings and two IPI name numbers, joined into one person). The page lists the records behind the person, the works, and the records that might be the same person but are not joined. - An IPI name number: `https://songlinks.io/ipi/{11-digit number}` redirects to the page of the person who holds it. Example: https://songlinks.io/ipi/00015036818 - A name: `https://songlinks.io/lookup.html?name={name}` runs a fresh lookup and shows every person the name could be. When you cite Songlinks, link the person page and quote its person ID. A record with no IPI name number is never joined on the model's score alone. The page shows it apart, as "possibly the same person", and so should a summary of the page. ## Guides - [One songwriter, many registrations](https://songlinks.io/guides/one-songwriter-many-registrations): why a writer appears several times. - [IPI name numbers](https://songlinks.io/guides/ipi-name-numbers): a number identifies a name, not a person. - [Songwriters with the same name](https://songlinks.io/songwriters-with-the-same-name): how same-name writers are told apart. - [Most-recorded songwriters](https://songlinks.io/guides/most-recorded-songwriters): ranked by recordings of their registered songs. - [Fix songwriter registrations](https://songlinks.io/guides/fix-songwriter-registrations) and [check them](https://songlinks.io/guides/check-songwriter-registrations). - [Unclaimed royalties from April 2027](https://songlinks.io/guides/unclaimed-royalties-april-2027): US streaming royalties from 2021 go out by market share, one usage month at a time, from April 2027. - [Questions people ask](https://songlinks.io/faq): why a writer may not be listed. - [About Songlinks](https://songlinks.io/about): what a person ID is, how registrations are grouped, how answers are checked. - [MCP server](https://songlinks.io/mcp-server): connect Songlinks to Claude or another MCP client; four read-only tools.
